Pahrump Holds First Annual Hospice Poker Tournament
The cards went in the air in the small town of Pahrump Nevada to support the first Hospice Charity Poker Tournament. Pahrump is just a small town just outside Las Vegas and the local community chipped in for charity last week in the first Nathan Hospice Poker Tournament.
Nathan Hospice is a Charity that supports the terminally ill. Many Hospice patients do not qualify for Medicare or need charity donations to for assistance. Pahrump and Las Vegas residents raised over $4500 dollars last week with even a few Pro Poker Players joining in for the fun. Tom McEvoy, previous WSOP Main Event winner, placed in the money out of 88 other poker players. Some players were good and some not so good but it was all for a good cause.
"There was an $80 dollar buy in fee and $100 dollar add on and many prizes and a whole lot of fun" said Dr. Michael Reiner, who organized the tournament. It was the community helping the community and everyone had good time. There were bounty prizes and a lot of local business made donations to for raffle prizes. It was such a huge success they have decided to make it an annual event.
The event lasted about 4 hours at the Pahrump Nugget located in center of the town. 10 players cashed out with the first place winning the $1800 seat to the World Series of Poker Boot Academy.
Congratulations to the winners:
